This fall session was MAGIC. This was around the time there were fires in the west, so the sky was very hazy and red. You might notice the extra moody sky in these photos, which made all the stars align with this location and their outfits, too! Thanks again for another awesome session, W fam!!

It was so fun having Riggs in the studio for his one year birthday session a few months ago! This little guy is 100% boy and 100% adorable. His mom brought the perfect outfit for him - I always love this very simple look in my studio!

Just thinking about this session makes me smile! These little boys did not stop smiling the whole time they were at the studio. One may think I had to work to get these little guys to agree to a sibling photo, but it was a total breeze! I’m so happy for this family and all the exciting years they are about to have!
I think parents are often nervous about how their toddlers will listen at a session, and maybe be worried they will get any sibling or family shots with their new baby. I always try to make a connection with the children as soon as clients arrive to the studio, and then pull out my 9 years-worth of tricks that are needed to get the job done! I always enjoy a good challenge. :)

Fewffta! (How South Dakota was that) What a fall and holiday season! I’m so appreciative of all the sessions I’ve gotten to do this season, and it’s been fun to see so many clients another year! I’m itching to get back to much needed office work and blogging some recent sessions (orrrr more like sessions from a few months ago). I photographed big sister ,Lydia’s, first year, so meeting her new baby sister, Madelyn, was super special!

sioux falls newborn photographer | newborn studio mini sessions
I wanted to share something I recently started in 2018 - Newborn Mini Sessions. Since newborns are my specialty and definitely the most photographed in the studio, I thought it would be fun to offer another option to change things up for potential clients and myself. A full newborn session is great - plenty of time for my creativity to come out in the setups we shoot, we can take our time with the family (sibling!) shots, and you have many great images to choose from as a result. However, these Mini-Sessions are great for the client that may not want the investment of a full newborn session, and really just wants a few images of their new, little love. These sessions are just 30 minutes, and since they are so short, baby is swaddled (or wrapped, as I say) the entire time. This ensures that we can shoot quickly, since baby is cozy as they tend to prefer.
You can find more information on these sessions at the very bottom of this post. I usually offer just a few spots per month for these sessions, so don't hesitate to contact me well in advance! :)

Gavin is one of my Watch Me Grow Plan babies, and that means I get to see him every six months.. how lucky am I?! Just look at him! This past session, I got to photograph him in his beautiful home. There is something about freezing this part of your baby's life in photographs, especially in their room, their surroundings, with the people that love them most.
